Abby is doing great. We can tell she is starting to get more comfortable because she is becoming more playful. We especially noticed this past week. She's flirty playful - the kind where a dog spazzes out and runs like crazy up and down the hall jumping from bed to couch, etc... The kids are totally entertained by it and are happy to spaz out with her. Abby and Ella are fast friends. They lay all over each other, play, rub, snuggle and Ella is happy to have her puppy.

NAME: Angelo

Oh my!!!! I just don't have the words to describe how I feel in love with Angelo. I know the couple that adopted him must not know what to think because I have cried very time I have called to check on him. What an awesome boy!!!!!

Angelo (we call him Leo for short) is truly a wonderful dog. We looked for the perfect dog for over a year and couldn't have asked for a
smarter, more lovable, more beautiful lab. Leo has been working on his leash walking and commands and it amazes us how fast he is learning! He loves his squeaky duck toy, cuddling and playing fetch with his
tennis ball at our local dog park. In only a week he has filled our house with so much love and we are so thankful to Wendy for having
faith in us to be good doggie parents. We think Leo will be the most loved dog there is!!

NAME: Anna Belle

Hope you had a bountiful Thanksgiving with family and friends gathered around. We did and everyone loved Anna Belle. She is doing fine, eating well and beginning to relax and show the sweet personality you told us to expect. In the many times we have walked the property with her since Wednesday, she has been all about marking her new territory for all creatures to take notice. She has a bed besides ours and slept there last night and she snores a bit as you probably know. As I write she just picked up a tennis ball on the floor and tossed it about, so I think we will head outside for some throw and retrieve. Gal, you have saved another one and we are thankful to you for allowing Anna Belle to become a part of our family.

NAME: Annie

Annie was adopted by a great couple.

Just wanted to give you an update on Annie.
We just love her to death, she is the sweetest dog. She loves to go for walks and she gets plenty of them.Bob takes her out for three long walks and I take her out in the evening and whenever else she asks.
Bob has been working with her tendency to pull pretty strongly on her leash and we think we have it mastered.
She is very friendly with other dogs and good around children - our grandkids really enjoy playing with her when they come to visit.
We would like to thank you for your help in finding Annie for us, she has "perked" up our life a lot.

NAME: Ava

Ava was adopted by her foster mom and dad!!

Ava joined our family in August, as our foster dog. We weren't sure we were ready for another doggie after losing our black lab this summer. So, we took Ava in, and thought we would just foster her, and send her on. From day one, Ava was a model dog! She was well-trained and just as sweet as can be. I, of course, quickly fell in love with her. We had Ava for about a week when she jumped on the bed with me and snuggled up. She put her paws on my shoulders and gave me doggie kisses. I knew right then that she was our new dog, and we just HAD to adopt her.

Our house feels normal with a dog in the house again, especially a lab. Ava is noisy, rambunctious, and playful. She is also lovable, cuddly, and just plain sweet. Ava is our fur baby, and we intend to spoil her rotten! We are thankful for Lucky Labs Rescue for bringing her to us. We've never adopted a rescue dog before, and we don't intend for Ava to be our last rescue dog!

On a side note, to Ava's last family- if you read this: We are praying for you and think of you often. I know it couldn't have been as easy decision to give her up. We will take good care of your fur baby, Ava!

NAME: Bailey

Bailey is one lucky boy!

Bailey has stolen my heart and given it back to me with a smile. Bailey is so sweet and so MELLOW! He had a blast playing fetch in the yard and splashing in the pond with Eleanor and Joseph. Then he and I went for a long exploratory walk through the neighborhood at twilight. He’s now sacked out on his comfy bed with his legs in the air and a sleepy smile on his face. He must have been someone’s special dog because his manners are impeccable. When he retrieved the stick this afternoon, he returned to Joseph’s side and sat, dropping the stick on command. He has shown absolutely no interest in confronting Louie, our cat. He is resting beside my shoes, but he doesn’t seem interested in nibbling on them. I’m so impressed!

BARLELY’S HAPPY TAIL

It has been a very long time since I had a canine companion. After that, my time was just too consumed by college and work every day, so it wasn't fair for me to get another dog. Now that I have finished with school I have decided that it is time for me to take care of another little angel. I wouldn't trade my previous dogs for anything, but I got them by having a soft spot for their situation at the time and without knowing the breed very well. I had a Jack Russell Terrier and a Feist. The energy level was not expected.

This time, I did my research and found that a Lab would be ideal for me now. I searched animal shelters and online when I finally found Lucky Labs Rescue and Barley! I fell in love with his sweet face at once. He was extremely shy at first because his foster mom was so good to him and I was so unfamiliar. After the first night he began to warm up and know that he was safe despite his unknown past. He is exactly what I was looking for in my four legged companion. He has a lab's mild temper. Barley loves all animals and people, but his love to chase squirrels definitely holds his attention more than anything.

Knowing that I am providing a home to an animal that would otherwise have been killed where he was in the high kill shelter before Lucky Labs saved him! He has now found his forever home and I have found a great companion. This pup is so sweet and playful! I love watching him get a tennis ball and chew on it for a little while, drop it, and kick it away just so that he can get up and run to get it again. We will be going on vacation with them to the beach very soon!

Bella is doing great! Eating well, sleeping well, no potty issues at all. Getting exercise and LOTS of love and attention. Started underground fence training today. She and tiger are getting along and working on establishing their roles.
Bella seems very happy and relaxed. She has become quite playful, and keeps us laughing!
I cannot even tell you how much we love her! Thank you Wendy for bringing her to us.

Oh, my Bella was adopted by a wonderful family and I miis her so...

Bella settled into our home so fast, it took everyone by surprise except, possibly, Bella herself! She is great on the leash, plays multiple rounds of tug-o-war and "Gimme That Bone" with (Max) our friendly giant lab, whose life is now complete. They snuggle together and with us, are well-behaved alone in the house together without crating, and generally provide the only link that was missing to make our house a home. My husband wanted a dog who loves to retrieve in the water, and over the weekend Bella showed him how she enters the water like a torpedo and will gladly fetch the buoy until his arm falls off. We couldn't be happier with our new friend. Thank you Wendy and Lucky Labs!

Bo, now named Charlie, is super sweet, and very easy, I am so glad I was able to get to meet him last week as he is a great fit in our lives, and I think he is enjoying himself as well! Isn't it funny, I just loved something about his picture and his face seemed to just say a lot about the kind of dog he his; I can't believed we have been so blessed twice in a row with our amazing rescue dogs.

Buddy is doing great!! I think he's a little chubby but just from the winter. I gotta do a better job of sending u info on him im sure u miss em. We go for big walks on the weekend and we took him to freedom park last weekend. Everyone we see says he's handsome! Haha I laugh every time. He even let's me brush his teeth now but only for a few minutes! We LOVE him!!!!

Tucker is such a great boy and we are so happy to have him as part of our family. He is a total snuggle bug, absolutely loves his walks around the neighborhood, and likes hiking too! He can be an adorable couch potato but also has bundles of energy when he wants to. He seems to like car rides because he does quite the dance when we get the leash and he realizes he's going with us somewhere. He is such a joy and we are so thankful he came into our lives!

Diamond was adopted by two awesome people that live in eastern NC. Diamond hit the doggy lottery!!

Thanks so much for rescuing her from the shelter, taking such good care of her and giving us the privilege of adopting her. She has brought so much love to us already and her companionship is just what we wanted. She has to be the most loving dog I've ever seen. She is still sleeping great at night, peeing/pooping just fine and seems to be adapting to both of just fine.

When we had Lucy, the people we adopted her from never took her out of their yard, so when she got outside the fence, she ran like she was wild and wouldn't come when you called her name. Ken let Diamond, aka Sadie, out the back door underneath the garage several times on Sat/Sun and callled her name and she went right to him. He was so tickled to have her do that. She jumps right into the truck and goes for a ride and does really well riding. All around, she just couldn't be any more perfect for both of us.

Thanks again for everything and just remember that she's in such a happy and loving home now. Oh - saw on your Happy Tails section where you put that she had hit the doggy lottery - that should read that Ken/Barbara have hit the doggy lottery- she could not be more perfect for us!

Diva hit the doggy lottery!!!

Diva, now known as Reva is living in a small western North Carolina town. She is walking well over a mile each day as she meets her new human and dog friends. Everyone says what a beautiful girl she is. She loves to ride and is already getting treats from the drive thru at the bank, the drug store and the gas station.
She is happily chasing rabbits and squirrels in her fenced in yard and playing chase and tug of war. She just runs and runs.
She has been extremely well behaved and has adjusted very well to her new home. She has already become protective and alerts me to any visitors, human and animal.
I love her dearly and she has helped fill the void of the loss of my 12 year old Lab last March.

Fergie, now known as Jessie is great, she is such a sweet dog that loves to get attention. My grandchildren just adore her. I couldn’t ask for a more laid back, friendly, loving companion. Wendy from Lucky Labs Rescue helped me through the process of adopting and made sure that we were matched with the perfect dog that goes with our lifestyle with young grandchildren. She explained to us what to expect with Fergie aka Jessie when it comes to the transition period, and the characteristics when it came to the dogs we inquired about and who would best suit our family. You could tell that Wendy loves the dogs that she has in the rescue and wants nothing but the best for them to find the perfect home for them to live. I never dealt with a foster rescue program before, but Lucky Labs Rescue dogs are very well taken care of with the love from the foster caregivers and the vet care these dogs receive is just amazing. Jessie has brought us all so much joy and we are thankful to Lucky Lab Rescue for giving us the privilege of adopting one of their dogs. I highly recommend Lucky Labs Rescue if you are thinking about adopting a pet.

Hudson is one lucky boy!

We are completely in LOVE with Hudson! He is such a wonderful, sweet dog and a joy to have. Jeb (now, Murphy) is doing GREAT! He and Grace play together all the time. It’s awesome because Grace didn’t play much before but he’s teaching her how - which is great. Hal took him running last week and he LOVED it – had a great time.

Our son, Campbell has really taken “ownership” of him and goes out and plays fetch with him all the time now and they two of them are great together. So much so that we let Cam be the final decider on the name.

Really, we couldn’t ask for a better dog, he’s just great. Ok, maybe we could ask that he not going swimming in our pond all the time, or counter surf, but oh well – we still love him J

We just recently had to put our 13 year old Black Lab to sleep. It was extremely difficult, but I knew I wanted to adopt another dog. What better way to honor the memory of a cherished pet than by giving another deserving dog a home? I wasn't sure if my heart would open up right away to another dog. Then Little Miss Kelsey came along. She is so unbelievably sweet. She
rolls onto her back for belly rubs as soon as she sees me in the morning,and she gets along great with our other dog and our 3 year old son. My husband has fallen in love with her. She fit right in with our family, almost like she just "belonged" with us. I am so thankful to Wendy for her dedication and commitment to saving so many wonderful and deserving dogs.
She made the whole adoption process so easy and really wanted us to find a dog that was a good match for our family. We knew from the very beginning that if Kelsey was not a good fit for us, then she was going right back into
a loving foster home. Knowing that took the "stress" of the adoption process away because we didn't have to worry about adopting a dog out of guilt. My heart opened right up to Kelsey. She is so beautiful and I know she'll bring us lots of lots of happiness. Thank you Wendy and Lucky Labs!

Maddie's foster mom fell in love with her and could not imagine life without her.

Maddie is the most awesome dog ever. I can’t think of anything I would want to change about her. I knew it was a sign. When Wendy dropped her off at my house it began to snow and I love the snow. Within two hours of being at my house she walked over to the couch and laid her head in my lap and asked that this be her forever home. As her Foster mom, I tried to keep an open mind to the possibility of a very nice family adopting her but after a few days she had me and there was no giving her up. Midnight was adopted by a great family where she has settled in as a new family member.

Midnight became a member of our family in January 2011. My husband and I, twin boy/girl toddlers and Boo, our 4 year old Bloodhound welcomed "Middie" into our home with open arms and doggy-loving hearts. We all LOVE her and everyday we thank Lucky Labs for bringing her to us. Boo has found his soul mate in his new little sister and Midnight has found the family she deserves. Like all of our "children" she is the smartest and cutest black lab in the neighborhood. Our 21 month old twins call her "mmm Night" and they love scratching her belly...Midnight doesn't seem to mind. Midnight, only about 2 years old, is still very much a puppy considering she loves to run and wrestle with Boo. However, she is also a cozy little-40 pound-lap dog.
Lucky Labs is a TREMENDOUS organization and we are especially thankful for Wendy, who made the adoption process easy for everyone involved!

When we lost our wonderful Lab, Maxie, after 15 great years, we were devastated. We searched for a new dog with no luck. Our vet suggested Lucky Labs Rescue. We fell in love with Mr. Buddy. Buddy is a wonderful dog. He is playful and smart. Within a couple of days he settled in to become a member of the family. He follows us from room to room and is definitely a dog who likes to be around people. Since our boy is almost 90lbs. we are going to obedience classes to polish his outdoor manners. Eachel is doing wonderful! What an absolute sweetheart. Brandon and I both fell in love with her the first night. Sandy was adopted by a wonderful family and she is a very lucky girl!!!

Sandy renamed Sugar is doing great. She is still just a sweetie and loves to be petted. She it totally house-trained and now likes her crate, does great on walks, loves to run crazy in the back yard, etc. Walks cut down on chewing so I try to take her out every day :) Sugar already can do sit, down, and will ring bells to go out (that just started yesterday) which is good because she is very quiet. She is much less fearful now as well.

We are really enjoying Sugar and hope she is happy here. Thank you so much for helping us find her and taking such good care of her before we met her. Please also thank Jane and Nicole for fostering her and talking to me.

NAME: Sassy

Sassy was adopted by a wonderful young couple looking for a sweet girl to spoil as their child.

She is doing great! She loves to play ball, take walks through the neighborhood, play with her toys/bones in the living room, and sleep
next to us on the sofa when we watch elevision. She is a sound sleeper at night. We typically go to bed around 10:30pm and she does not get up
until around 6:00am-7:00am. She really seems to like having her dog bed in our bedroom near the foot of our bed. She has been eating well and
really enjoys her doggie treats. We absolutely love having her as part of our family!

Sophie is a great girl. She has adjusted well into our routine and is getting along great with her new sisters and brother. We've had her on the boat several times now and she loves it. When we stop she loves to swim and retrieve the toys with her sister. A big thanks to Wendy for bringing her to us and letting us adopt her into our familiy. Sophie is our 3rd rescue and we have been extremely fortunate 3 times now!! I highly recommend a rescue dog for anyone that is looking to add to their family.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Lucky labs!

Our family lost our sweet lab at 5 1/2 to cancer and a friend told me about Lucky Labs. I immediately was in touch with Wendy who not only helped us find a wonderful dog, but gave me a shoulder to cry. We adopted a wonderful dog, but after a month, we realized that it was not a good fit with our 21 month old daughter. With sadness in our hearts, we let him go, but Wendy was at our house with another dog within days. Stella is the perfect dog for us and there is not a day that goes by that I am not forever grateful for the effort and dedication of this organization. Our sweet dog came all the way from Georgia and we know that she is meant to be ours. She is spoiled rotten, sleeps on the bed and gets very upset when our daughter is crying. She is gentle, loving and we can't imagine life without her. Thank you so much for what you do!

Happy Tails Story

We were searching for a puppy when we saw Tanner’s face, an 11 month old Golden Retriever that was left at a high kill shelter and rescued by Wendy Adams at Lucky Labs Rescue in Charlotte, NC. When I saw Tanner’s smile and those sparkling eyes, I knew I had to call and enquire about him. Tanner is everything Wendy described and more. Tanner is sweet, loving, smart, loves playing with his new pal Star our 11 year old German Shepherd. Tanner is gentle with our two cats and he turns his head different ways when the love birds sing to him. Tanner loves driving around in the car and just being with our family. Tanner loves to eat; he even eats the stuffing out of his furry toys. You see this story isn’t so much about Tanner, but about us. We lost our Golden Retriever Tucker to Leukemia in April and it was very hard on all of us. Tanner could never take our Tucker’s place, but Tanner has helped us mend our broken hearts in a way that I cannot describe in words. Tanner is now part of The Nichols Family. I thank Wendy and Lucky Labs Rescue for being such angels in helping these wonderful animals stay alive another day, will you?

Miss Taylor was adopted by a wonderful family!!

Taylor now known as Marley

Last May we had to put our beautiful lab Sophie to sleep. It took almost a year before we were ready to find another special lab. Our search started on-line and the local shelters. We came across the Lucky Labs Rescue website and saw the most beautiful black lab. All it took was one look at the picture of Marley and we were in love.
Marley has been a member of our family for a month and she is such a sweetie. Wendy at Lucky Labs described her as a big lap dog and she was right. She is a love-bug.

When you stop petting her she will nudge your hand, as if to say "Don't Stop"! She is settling into our daily routine as if she has been here forever. Its hard to believe that someone could actually part with her. We are so lucky to have found this wonderful girl.
Thank you Brian, Dawn, Courtney and lab buddy Eli for fostering Marley until she found her forever home. And special thanks to Wendy for all of her help with the adoption process and for caring enough to find homes for these beautiful labs.

NAME: Trane

We started as foster parents for Trane but he quickly found his way into our family and our hearts. We had lost our Aussie in August so we decided to first foster a dog before jumping back into dog ownership. Trane quickly made himself at home and was the perfect gentleman. He is so very Lab happy and made quick friends with our two young boys. He loves running, playing fetch and taking long walks on the greenway. It is so good to have a sweet, wagging tail back in the house. He is such a good boy, so eager to learn. He just loves spending time at the park playing on the slide with the boys. He is also the perfect passenger and is sure to get lots of comments in the school car pool line every afternoon. Trane is the perfect example of the kind of dog one can find through a rescue group. We are so happy to have found Lucky Labs and we thank Wendy so very much for introducing us to our sweet boy!

NAME: Winston

Winston was adopted by a wonderful family with 2 young boys.

Great first day and night - thank you. He has plenty of puppy left in him - but he is really well behaved. After he settled down - which took a while - and had a couple of walks he became a big cuddler. He slept on the floor with the boys in their sleeping bags. He has already met several of the neighbors and dogs.
